Ecoventions
A series of arts and ecology fieldtrips led by artist Brandon Ballengée

Collaboration is key to Gunpowder Park’s programming and we continually establish partnerships with artists and organisations in the UK and abroad to co-produce and host a range of innovative projects, events and activities. Over the past three years, the Gunpowder Park team has worked with creative practitioners across disciplines including Robert Wilson, Wysing Arts, The Arts Catalyst, SPACE, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and Writtle College.

The Gunpowder Park team of producers, curators, commissioners and arts managers with international experience, have offered creative professionals unprecedented conceptual and physical freedom to work in the dynamic landscape of the Park, providing valuable links with regional and international creative partnerships.

Current programming focuses on providing creative practitioners with opportunities for research and development, professional development, creative explorations of open spaces, facilitating education programmes and communicating all of our work to a wider audience through printed and online publishing.  This is delivered through these projects:

Bright Sparks: research and development funding scheme, which offers a unique opportunity for art and design led explorations of public open space in both urban and rural contexts.

The Art of Common Space: a creative exploration of common spaces in our contemporary society, instigating debate and discussion through new commissions, discussions and an extensive network of existing artworks and organisations.

Through The Art of Common Space we work closely with CivWorld and Demos, two New York based think tanks, who have positioned The Art of Common Space project prominently within their wide ranging international initiatives.

Recent Projects: throughout 2007 Gunpowder Park worked with the Arts Catalyst to develop three new projects including a residency with artist Brandon Ballengée, a full day event of new artist commissions in the 2nd International Artists Airshow, and an experimental project by Tomas Saraceno.

Central Saint Martins: following a successful pilot residency with Fine Art students from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in 2007, a second group of students have developed new work in the landscape during May 2008,
